Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai 22nd August 2024 Written Episode: Ruhi’s Shocking Move
The episode begins with Abhira searching for a missing ring. She wonders where it could be, as no one had been in the outhouse, and all the doors and windows were shut. Meanwhile, Ruhi secretly watches her. A flashback reveals that Ruhi saw Abhira fighting off some thieves earlier. After they left, Ruhi sneaked in and stole the ring while Abhira was asleep. Smiling to herself, Ruhi recalls how she took the ring.
Ruhi, still bitter, says to herself, “You stole my love, so I stole your ring. Ever since Armaan left me at the altar for you, I’ve been hurting. Now, everyone will see you’re not right for this house if you can’t even keep track of one ring.” Abhira, now in tears, worries about what will happen next, knowing that Armaan is getting ready for their engagement.
Armaan, elsewhere, is surprised to learn that Dadi doesn’t want to give the ancestral bangles to Abhira. Dadi explains that she had asked Abhira to change her name, but Abhira refused. Just then, Abhira enters the room, crying. Armaan defends her, insisting that the wedding should include all the rituals and that he doesn’t want her to change her name. He praises Abhira, saying she is responsible, but Dadi disagrees, declaring that the engagement will proceed without that particular ritual.
Vidya steps in and removes her own bangles, saying that the ritual will happen and that she will give her bangles to her daughter-in-law. Abhira, overwhelmed with emotion, runs out in tears, thinking to herself, “I’m not responsible, what should I do now?” Armaan notices her distress and greets her warmly, while Ruhi watches from a distance.
Armaan tries to comfort Abhira, asking if her appointment at the parlor got canceled or if she didn’t like the dress. He assures her that there’s still time before the engagement and that they can fix whatever is bothering her. Abhira tries to speak, saying, “Armaan, I have…” but is interrupted when Vidya arrives and urges her to get ready quickly. Vidya asks about Armaan’s ring, offering to display it in the ring stand, but Armaan confidently says, “She’s my Abhira, she’ll handle everything.” Vidya laughs and leaves, and Armaan presses Abhira to tell him what’s wrong. Abhira, hiding her worry, says she’ll go get ready. Ruhi, sensing the tension, thinks, “I know you’ll tell the truth soon.”
Ruhi reflects on her past mistakes, regretting letting her love slip away. She’s determined to fix things and believes she has a right to the ring. When Vidya and Manisha enter the kitchen, Ruhi quickly hides the ring in a pressure cooker and starts making excuses. Manisha and Ruhi bicker over making khichdi, causing the cooker to fall. Ruhi apologizes, insisting she’ll clean up and make the khichdi herself. Vidya agrees and leaves with Manisha, allowing Ruhi to retrieve the ring, vowing not to lose it again.
Meanwhile, Armaan wonders why Abhira seems so troubled. Krish, noticing Armaan’s concern, playfully suggests that Armaan should do something romantic during the engagement. The others encourage Armaan to make the moment special. Despite his own worries, Armaan tries to stay positive, thinking about how to express his feelings for Abhira. Krish jokingly hugs him, saying he wishes he could be the one getting engaged. Charu and Kiara get emotional, and Aryan assures Armaan that Abhira will fall for him. Armaan laughs along, but Abhira, filled with guilt, believes she doesn’t deserve him.
Later, Vidya prepares the engagement dress and places it on a tray. Ruhi offers to take the dress to Abhira, planning to retrieve the ring as well, but Vidya tells her to stay and watch the food while she and Kiara go instead. Dadi, still displeased with Abhira’s middle-class background, instructs Vidya to make sure Abhira looks like she belongs to their family. Vidya agrees.
Abhira, feeling guilty and anxious, sees Vidya and Kiara arrive. Vidya notices a torn cushion and asks about it, but Kiara quickly explains that rats caused the damage and offers to call pest control. Vidya then gives Abhira the dress and jewelry, asking for the ring. Abhira, desperate for more time, says she needs to perform a prayer in front of her mother’s picture first. Vidya allows it and reminds Abhira to get ready to join their family as the eldest daughter-in-law. After Vidya leaves, Kiara mentions that Dadi was upset last time because Abhira’s saree was too loose, so she goes to get some pins to fix the dress. Alone, Abhira is consumed by guilt, thinking, “I can’t lie anymore today.”
