Shah Rukh Khan’s Jawan featured many talented artists, including content creator Viraj Ghelani, who played a small role in the film directed by Atlee Kumar. Recently, Viraj made headlines when he said in an interview that working on Jawan “was my worst experience ever.” However, he later explained that his comments were misunderstood and taken out of context. He added, “Baat ka batangad ban gaya befaaltu mai” (the situation got blown out of proportion for no reason). Let’s dive into what really happened.
In an exclusive chat with Hindustan Times, Viraj clarified his statement, which he says was due to a poor choice of words. Talking about his role in the film, he revealed that most of his scenes were cut from the final version, even though he had filmed for about 13-14 days. Only the scenes he shot on the first day were included in the movie. He admitted that he felt disappointed when he watched the film with his fiancée and noticed that much of his work was trimmed. “At that moment, I was a bit disappointed. But it wasn’t my worst experience working on the film,” he explained.
Viraj also emphasized that his words were blown out of proportion. He mentioned that he had commented about being spoken to rudely on set, but this was also misunderstood. He clarified that it wasn’t the director or main cast who treated him poorly but rather some random people present on the set. In fact, Viraj praised director Atlee, calling him “the sweetest.” He even revealed that Atlee offered him a role in Baby John, but Viraj had to decline due to other commitments. Talking about his experience with Shah Rukh Khan, he said, “Our scenes were on different days. Things just got blown out of proportion unnecessarily.”
For those who missed it, Viraj had shared his experience of working with SRK and Atlee in Jawan during a podcast. In that discussion, he had described the work environment on set as not being the best and claimed that “creators are cast for their clout only.” However, he now stresses that his words were misunderstood. Besides Viraj, Jawan also starred Nayanthara, Vijay Sethupathi, Deepika Padukone, Priyamani, Sanya Malhotra, and many more talented actors.
