Title: Phir Aayi Hasseen Dillruba

Director: Jaiprad Desai

Cast: Taapsee Pannu, Vikrant Massey, Sunny Kaushal, Jimmy Shergill, Aditya Srivastava, Bhumika Dube

Writer: Kanika Dhillon

Rating: 2.5/5

Plot:
Phir Aayi Hasseen Dillruba picks up where the first part left off. Rani (Taapsee Pannu) is now living as a paying guest in Agra and working as a beautician. Rishu (Vikrant Massey), who has changed his name to Ravi after an explosion, is working as an engineer and lives separately from Rani. The Uttar Pradesh police are keeping a close watch, making it hard for them to reunite. They plan to save money to escape to Thailand and start a new life together.

The new inspector, Mrutyunjay Paswan, also known as Montu Chacha (Jimmy Shergill), is determined to prove that Rani and Rishu are responsible for his nephew Neel Tripathi death. He believes Rishu is still alive and in contact with Rani. To throw off suspicion, Rani marries Abhimanyu (Sunny Kaushal), a compounder who openly loves her.

Will Rani marriage to Abhimanyu help her reunite with Rishu? What if Abhimanyu discovers he is just a pawn in Rani and Rishu plan? Will the police ever prove Rani and Rishu guilt? Watch Phir Aayi Hasseen Dillruba to find out.

What Works:
Phir Aayi Hasseen Dillruba is well-paced and engaging with enough drama for a two-hour watch. The film’s poetic touch and small-town setting add to its charm. The performances are strong, especially Sunny Kaushal as the intense Abhimanyu and Jimmy Shergill as Montu Chacha. The songs, like “Kya Haal Hai” and “Haste Haste,” are pleasant and well-shot. The film maintains the tone of the original and doesn’t stray too far from what fans expect.

What Doesn’t Work:
The film has several issues. It’s hard to connect with Rani and Rishu struggle since they seem to meet easily. This makes the plot difficult to believe. The movie lacks the thrill that such a story needs and feels a bit superficial. It had the potential to be more exciting, but the creators stuck to familiar ground without surprising the audience. Without the intriguing characters, the plot might have lost its appeal.

Performances:

  • Taapsee Pannu as Rani Kashyap is excellent and looks stunning.
  • Vikrant Massey as Rishu is reliable but his role is not very exciting.
  • Sunny Kaushal as Abhimanyu is outstanding and stands out among the actors.
  • Jimmy Shergill as Montu Chacha is impressive and adds depth to the film.
  • Aditya Srivastava as ACP Kishore Jamwal and Bhumika Dube as the landlord also deliver good performances.

Final Verdict:
Phir Aayi Hasseen Dillruba has interesting characters and strong performances but suffers from a weak plot, lack of suspense, and an unsatisfying ending. There was a lot of potential that wasn’t fully realized. However, the final scene does hint at an interesting sequel.
