Mahesh Pandey, a well-known scriptwriter and producer in the Indian TV industry, has reportedly been arrested for cheating a movie producer out of Rs 2.65 crore. This situation has brought him into serious legal trouble.
According to a report by the Times of India, the Amboli police have confirmed that Mahesh Pandey, who is famous for writing the script for “Kasautii Zindagii Kay,” was arrested for allegedly cheating a film producer of Rs 2.65 crore.
A senior police officer explained that the complaint was filed by Jatin Sethi, who claimed that he had loaned Pandey around Rs 2.65 crore. Pandey had promised to repay the money once he received it, but he failed to do so even after getting the funds. As a result, the police arrested Pandey, held him at the station for two days, and then sent him to judicial custody.
Jatin Sethi’s lawyer, Advocate Rizwan Siddiquee, added that an FIR (First Information Report) with the number 0487/2024 was filed at the Amboli Police Station against Mahesh Pandey, his wife Madhu Mahesh Pandey, and other family members. They were charged under Sections 406 and 420, read with Section 34 of the Indian Penal Code, 1860, for committing the crime of cheating Sethi. The amount involved was Rs. 2.65 crore (Rupees Two Crores Sixty-Five Lakhs).
Advocate Siddiquee also mentioned that when the matter escalated, Pandey did not cooperate, leading to his arrest by the Mumbai Police on August 5. Currently, Pandey remains in judicial custody.
Mahesh Pandey has had a long and successful career in the Indian TV industry. He gained significant fame with the popular show “Kasautii Zindagii Kay,” which starred Shweta Tiwari as Prerna and Cezanne Khan as Anurag Basu. He also produced a TV show called “Vidya,” featuring Meera Deosthale, under his production house. The news of his arrest has shocked the industry and his colleagues, as Pandey has been associated with many successful shows.
