I have never celebrated Diwali,” he shares. “Once you wear the uniform, you no longer have a religion, caste, or language. You have to dedicate your entire life to the country. There is no fixed duty – sometimes it’s 12 hours, 24 hours, and at times, we don’t go home for three days.”
The conversation continues as Sharma explains the unique role of police officers during festivals. He adds, “A police officer is expected, especially when society is out celebrating, to ensure that nothing disrupts their happiness. They are the social changers, the ones who bring positive change in society.” His words resonate with the audience, who respond with applause.
