KBC 16: Amitabh Bachchan Slams Societal Norms on Unmarried Women

In the latest episode of Kaun Banega Crorepati season 16, MPSC candidate Krishna Selukar found himself on the hot seat in front of Bachchan sahab. During the show, a moment stood out when Krishna shared his view that unmarried women are a burden on their families, a statement that didn’t sit well with Bachchan sahab.

During their conversation, Bachchan sahab asked Krishna if securing a government job was always his goal. Krishna, a 29-year-old with an engineering degree, explained that he lost his job due to COVID-19 and was left unemployed. He then added, “If I say that an unmarried woman is a burden on her family, then after a certain age, an unemployed man is also a burden.”

Bachchan sahab, known for his deep and resonant voice, responded firmly, “Let me tell you something. A woman can never be a burden. She is always an honor to the family.”

Krishna hails from Ashti village in the Jalna district and was one of the top 10 contestants in the Fastest Finger First round. After winning, he secured his spot in the competition during the Jaldi 5 Buzzer Round on his third attempt. Krishna participated in the quiz show with the hope of changing his life. His only dream was to make his father proud and prove that he could achieve something significant.

Krishna succeeded in this goal, taking home Rs 12.5 lakh. He decided to quit before attempting a question worth Rs 25 lakh. The episode was emotional as Bachchan sahab made it possible for Krishna to speak with his mother and sister via video call. Krishna shared that he only spoke to his mother on Sundays because being far from her was very difficult for him.
