Taarak Mehta For almost 17 years, Indian television has featured Ka Ooltah Chashmah. The show made headlines in 2023 for the wrong reasons. A few former cast members claimed set misconduct and unpaid dues. After hearing these charges, the show’s creator, Asit Modi, has spoken out.
Asit Modi told SCREEN that he has never distanced himself from performers and is open to contact if concerns arise. He said that he and I have always been honest and prioritized the program before personal benefits, and while such situations bother him, he recognizes that they are part of life.
The TMKOC inventor said he won’t respond to criticism from former performers. He said they helped the show succeed and that its popularity was a team effort, notwithstanding his leadership.
He compared the program to a train that keeps going even if compartments derail. He adds, “I do feel bad, but I forgive them, because if I hold a grudge in my heart, I won’t be happy and won’t be able to make people laugh.”
Asit credited a collective effort for Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah’s accomplishment. He said he ensures no one in the team has problems and emphasizes unity and sincerity to create a good production environment.
Asit Modi also discussed Disha Vakani’s favorite character, Dayaben, returning five years after leaving the program. He noted the show’s popularity despite Dayaben’s absence. He said they are attempting to bring the character back soon and that Disha has personal obligations.
He also stated that he has shortlisted several candidates, but the team still hopes to see her.
