Ananya Panday on Call Me Bae: Suhana Khan, Shanaya Kapoor’s Reaction & Uorfi Javed Obsession

Ananya Panday is all set to make her debut on OTT with the comedy-drama series Call Me Bae. In a recent interview, Ananya sat down with her co-stars Niharika Dutt and Muskkaan Jaferi, where she shared how her close friends Suhana Khan and Shanaya Kapoor reacted to the trailer. Ananya also revealed that the three of them are currently really hooked on Uorfi Javed’s show Follow Kar Lo Yaar.

When asked if Suhana and Shanaya had seen the trailer, Ananya confirmed that they had, saying, “Yeah, they loved it. They can’t wait to watch it.” The conversation then turned to whether there was any competition between the three friends, who are all in the same industry. Ananya quickly dismissed the idea, explaining that their friendship goes way back. “We’ve been friends since I used to sleep on Shanaya’s mom’s baby bump when Shanaya was still in her tummy,” she said. Ananya emphasized that their bond is like family, and they don’t talk about the industry as much as people might think. Instead, they discuss a variety of topics, and right now, they’re really into Uorfi’s show.

During a fun rapid-fire round in the interview, Ananya was asked to choose between Suhana and Shanaya as her favorite “bae.” Surprised by the question, she responded, “Helloo, this is not allowed.” Niharika Dutt added, “You never pick between best friends.” Ananya agreed, calling her besties her “left arm and right arm” and joking that they should never break the “behen code.”

The trailer for Call Me Bae also includes a reference to a playful exchange between Ananya and Siddhant Chaturvedi about her comments on struggling in the industry. Ananya shared that Siddhant had even posted about it on Instagram, and she thinks everyone is taking it in good spirits because it’s part of the show. Niharika praised the trailer’s editors, saying they did a smart job by including that moment, knowing it would grab attention.

To remind you, the last part of the trailer shows Siddhant’s reaction to Ananya’s comments about nepotism and her “struggling days” during a roundtable interview with Rajeev Masand. When she mentioned that her struggle included not being on Koffee With Karan, Siddhant responded that the struggles of star kids start where their dreams come true.

The series Call Me Bae, directed by Collin D’Cunha and produced by Karan Johar’s Dharmatic Entertainment, also stars Vir Das, Gurfateh Pirzada, Varun Sood, Vihaan Samat, Lisa Mishra, and Mini Mathur. The show is set to premiere on Amazon Prime on September 6, 2024.
