Aamir Khan Reveals Why He Banned Daughter Ira from Watching Ghajini

Aamir Khan’s film Ghajini is one of his most popular movies and has become a cult classic over the years. Despite its fame, Aamir didn’t let his daughter, Ira Khan, watch it. Here’s why.

Aamir Khan and his daughter Ira share a close bond. However, Aamir has been particular about what content his daughter watches. In an old interview, Ira was asked if she watches all her father’s movies and what she thinks of his acting.

Ira revealed that she has seen most of his films, but Aamir didn’t let her watch Ghajini. She said, “Yeah, I watch most of his movies except for Ghajini. He didn’t let me watch it,” during an interview with Bollywood Hungama in 2014.

Aamir, who was sitting next to her, commented, “Too violent,” and suggested it was her mother who didn’t allow it. But Ira corrected him, saying it was actually him who made the decision. Aamir then admitted, “Yeah, sounds like me.”

In a 2019 interview with The Asian Age, Ira explained that she was too young to watch Ghajini. She said, “I wasn’t allowed to watch his films because I was too young. After Lagaan, I watched all his films except Ghajini because Dad said I would be too scared. I also missed Fanaa for the same reason.”

Ghajini, released in 2008 and directed by A.R. Murugadoss, also starred Asin, Pradeep Singh Rawat, Jiah Khan, and Sunil Grover. The film is an intense action thriller about a wealthy businessman, Sanjay Singhania, who suffers from short-term memory loss after a traumatic event. He uses notes and tattoos on his body to track down his fiancée’s killer.
